Dear Friend of CRS,
As we enter Holy Week, now is a critical moment to pay attention to Sudan, whose diverse peoples face tremendous threats due to reduced humanitarian assistance and the risk of escalating conflict.
Though 13 international aid organizations were recently forced to cease operations in Sudan, CRS remains present and engaged. Working with our partners, CRS continues to provide support to critical relief and development activities in Darfur, around Khartoum and throughout the south. In Darfur, we are currently assessing the possibility of expanding our work to fill the growing gaps in supplies and technical assistance.
Because the situation is tenuous, and for the security of staff, partners and the communities we serve, CRS remains discreet in our public statements. We hope to share more information in the coming weeks. But as we stand at the foot of the cross this Passion Sunday, let us not turn our gaze away from the suffering of those in Sudan and particularly in Darfur. The work CRS is doing across the country is lifesaving and requires extensive resources.

CRS has been providing relief and development programs in Sudan since the end of the 1972 civil war, when we helped resettle internally displaced persons.
Thank you for your gift and your prayers.
