The End of DACA – What You Need to Know / Cosas Que Necesita Saber Sobre La Cancelacion de DACA

The Trump administration announced Sept. 5, 2017 that it is ending Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. DACA provides temporary protection from deportation and work authorization for certain young people who were brought to the U.S. as children.

El gobierno de Trump anunció el 5 de septiembre del 2017 que estará anulando el programa conocido como DACA la acción diferida para las llegados en la infancia. DACA proporciona protección temporal contra la deportación y autorización de trabajo para ciertos jóvenes que entraron siendo niños a Estados Unidos.

1) DACA Renewals

Current beneficiaries with expiration dates between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018 may renew DACA. Their renewal request must be accepted by October 5, 2017.

CUALQUIER AUTORIZACIÓN DE DACA QUE EXPIRE ENTRE EL 5 DE SEPTIEMBRE DEL 2017 Y EL 5 DE MARZO DEL 2018 PUEDE SER RENOVADA SIEMPRE Y CUANDO LA APLICACIÓN SEA PRESENTADA ANTES DEL 5 DE OCTUBRE DEL 2017.

2) Current DACA recipients

Current DACA recipients may maintain deferred action and EAD* (until their current expiration date. If your EAD is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you may apply to replace it.

* An employment authorization document (EAD; Form I-765) or EAD card, known popularly as a “work permit”, is a document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that provides temporary employment authorization to noncitizens in the United States.

3) Employment

DACA recipients can continue working until their EAD expires.
